Anek is an eye-opener for many who are ignorant about the socio-political conditions and issues prevailing in the NorthEast India. If you want to see a non- glorified real and exact picture of the socio- political condition of our seven sisters you have to watch this movie. What is democracy? Are we really secular? What do we mean when we call India a developing democratic nation?
The film puts forth some brain rattling, uncomfortable truths and questions the audience. The male lead in the film Joshua aka Aman played by Ayushmann Khurana repeatedly questions the audience "Do we really want peace?" You can relate with the character where he questions the concept of peace. Again, what a brilliant way of naming a character 'Aman' which itself means peace.
The concept of Truth varies from one person to another. There are 'Truths' not 'Truth'.
Being born in a particular part of a nation and belonging to community, sect, caste or religion is never a choice given to a human being. The only choice is whether you choose to love where you are, who you are and who you want to be or to blame the goverment for giving unfair oppurtunities. Yes, you can choose who you want to be, a rebel choosing violence and destruction or a rebel possessing self-love, hard-work, determination and courage to achieve massive success.
The greatest revenge is massive success. Destruction begots destruction. Your intention dictates your result. It also teaches us to divert our energy in the right direction, to achieve the path of success.
Anek is an unglorified, eye-opener which educates the audience in many ways. A must-watch movie, indeed.
